Three classes of sixth-grade students at Spencer Middle School spent Friday afternoon volunteering in various work capacities at Scharnberg Park. (Above) A group of students worked to clean up the playground area; and (below) others -- including Natalie Kroll and Elisa Fisher -- worked on the beach area. Teams tackled a variety of of projects during their hour at the park, including raking pine needles, filling in ground squirrel holes and (bottom) garbage pick-up along the roadway.
